Who We Are

Frequently Asked Questions

Marketing

We are primarily a nonfiction academic book publisher. Most of our readers find our publications on internet search engines and bookseller catalogs. We make all of our titles easily accessible through major on-line booksellers such as Amazon.com, BarnesAndNoble.com, and via special order through thousands of physical bookstores. We also have arrangements with large wholesale distributors including Ingram Book Company with worldwide distribution. In addition, we publish most of our books in both print and electronic versions for major ebook platforms such as Amazon Kindle, Apple iTunes and Google Play Books. That said, we generally do not promote individual titles because there usually isn't enough profit per sale to cover paid promotion. However, there are a number of things that authors can (and should) do immediately upon publication that cost very little such as distributing review copies and soliciting reader reviews. Click here for details outlining some of these.

Distribution

With production facilities in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and the UAE, and co-publishing opportunities in China and India, our comprehensive distribution system makes your book available through some of the biggest book selling channels in the world. All of our books are made available through major on-line booksellers, plus through thousands of neighborhood bookstores by special order.

Large-scale wholesale distribution is provided by arrangement with top book distributors Ingram Book Company , Baker & Taylor. In addition, readers worldwide can purchase either paper or ebook editions directly from Universal-Publishers.com and other ebooksellers for instant access to your work.

Royalties, Fees & Book Pricing

Most books are priced starting at $25.95 in paper and $21.00 in ebook edition. Royalties range between 10% and 40% of the retail price depending on mode and level of the sale (see Publishing Agreement for details). For the first 1999 copies sold the author receives a 10% royalty when sold through a bookseller, and 20% royalty when purchased at the retail price direct from BrownWalker Press.

Authors can purchase copies of their own book in any quantity at 40% off the retail price. Author orders over 100 copies receive a 50% discount. Copies purchased at the author discount are non-commissionable and do not count toward royalties. Author royalties are paid quarterly and apply to all sales after the first three copies sold in each calendar quarter.

Corrections

Only submit the final edition of your manuscript with the materials for publication. Be sure to have several people carefully proofread the entire manuscript. Once the ebook proof of manuscript is posted only one round of minor changes and corrections is expected. The manuscript may be returned to the author for editing if extensive changes are required. Once the ebook proof is approved for publication by the author any changes to the book are costly and time consuming.

Submitting Large Files
